Q: First, what is your go-to karaoke song when no one’s watching (or even when they are)?
A: LOVELY DAY, Bill Withers
Q: Can you tell us a little about your background and how you became the Chauffeur Manager at LEADER Worldwide?
A: Bartending school led me to the restaurant business which led to the Hotel industry. I worked in every available position in both. I stumbled into Transportation as a temporary job while I pondered my future. I ended up making it a career and loving it.
Q: At LEADER, safety and comfort are top priorities. How do you ensure your chauffeurs maintain those high standards for every trip?
A: It begins with PAX Training which gives a great overview of the transportation industry and our standards at LEADER. My “one on one” training is very thorough and detailed. LEADER also assigns ongoing training courses. To me it’s all about constant communication. Never assume that someone knows and understands.
Q: PAX certification is crucial for our chauffeurs. Why is it so important, and how do you make sure all your team members meet these standards?
A: PAX lays a foundation and creates an expectation that I am able to build upon. It is a great reference point when I’m counselling and coaching chauffeurs. PAX Training has great verbiage that you can repeat and reference.
Q: What’s the most rewarding part of your job as Chauffeur Manager?
A: Seeing Chauffeurs receive 5 STAR reviews and have their name specifically mentioned in the comments..
Q: If you could give one piece of advice to someone aspiring to be a Chauffeur Manager, what would it be?
A: Be patient and encouraging and always COMMUNICATE. The task is easy but the details are critical.
Q: What’s your favorite local Kansas City spot for a bite to eat or to hang out?
A: Any fun Brew Pub or Winery. My wife and I are always in search of great Thai food.
Q: If you could give your 10-year-old self one piece of advice, what would it be?
A: Be more FEARLESS.
Q: What’s the wildest request you’ve ever had from a chauffeur or client, and how did you handle it?
A: As long as it wasn’t Illegal, immoral, inappropriate and unprofessional, I have done it.
Q: If you had to create a “Chauffeur Olympics,” what events would you include?
A: Definately LUGGAGE PACKING and CLIENT CONVERSATION. I would win the GOLD MEDAL everytime.
